TETTO AL BIRANCO

TETTO AL BIRANCO (Roof at Biranco) A bivouac-belvedere (shelter) located at 1450 meters on the Balconata di Ormea trail. The project is the result of the "Re-inhabiting the Forest" workshop (Erasmus+ BIP program). Designed by GRRIZ and built in one week by 20 students via self-build, the Tetto al Biranco is a pentagonal timber architecture structure in spruce and chestnut, designed to withstand extreme weather. It offers an 8 m² shelter for hikers, blending traditional vernacular architecture with contemporary design. The design highlights the load-bearing frame, consistent with Archibüse. This initiative, in collaboration with plug-in and Petites Folies School, focuses on creating micro-architectures through architecture workshops that engage residents and students.
