CATASTA

Venice, Italy

CATASTA (15th Venice Architecture Biennale). A site-specific public art installation created for the Giardino delle Vergini, within the Italian Pavilion. Born from a reflection on sustainability and reuse, it is based on the concept "a garden, a need, a material." The need was the visitor's primary one at the Venice Biennale: a pause for decompression. The material was reclaimed wood (upcycling) from the dismantling of Expo 2015. The work placed this wood in a "temporary state of rest," minimally processed. The installation thus became a living manifesto of the circular economy and sustainable architecture, a philosophical statement on the transience of ephemeral architecture and its ability to generate long-term value.
